The snow came and so did the people.

The snow fell frequently in March. According to OpenSnow, Breckenridge Ski Resort topped all of the ski areas, finishing with 49 inches over the month. Summit County ski areas total for the season are now over 200 inches cumulative.

Great news for all the visitors and there were a lot of them. Tourism professionals across Summit County were expecting this spring break period to set new records. By the middle of February, nights booked by visitors in Breckenridge exceeded 2021 by 34% and surpass 2019 by 13%,

According to the Breckenridge December report, the town’s net taxable sales were ahead of 2019’s numbers by about 26% and about 35% ahead of 2020’s numbers. The biggest positive swing was the town’s short-term lodging. Compared to 2019, the town’s sales tax collections for the industry were up nearly 56%.

Other local town and resorts report similar numbers. As the summer approaches experts are expecting that excitement toward travel will carry on into the summer.
