Alma, CO

Best of both worlds.

Alma-Close to World Class without losing Downhome. Best of both worlds.

Market Insider

Alma's the highest town in America. An historic mining community from the 1800's it is a history lesson in itself. Nestled in a valley over 10,000 ft above sea level the attitude is laid back and live for the day. Home to beautiful nature hikes, climbing multiple 14ers in a day and world class fly fishing you won't be bored. The South Platte River runs through Placer Valley north of town and is a state wildlife preserve.

You are just 25 minutes to Breckenridge if you want the skiing and the world class amenities yet you my choose to just relax in the peace and quiet of Alma for the day. Because this many vacation home owners are choosing to get a nice single family in the woods here for the same price as a one bedroom condo in Breckenridge. There is some rental income to be found too.

Just a few shops and restaurants here but they are run by and home to the locals so have fun with it. It won't take long before you are greeted by name anywhere in town. You will find that when your are not going over the pass to ski you will be very content to enjoy the unspoiled nature of Park County.
